What is the BodyViz Portal?
The BodyViz Portal gives instructors and students access to more than 1,000 real patient MRI and CT scans, guided virtual dissection activities, interactive quizzes, and clinical case studies. Our dataset library consists of over 1,000 real MRI and CT scans for student virtual dissection and anatomy exploration. Learning from real patient anatomy exposes students to natural anatomical variation rather than idealized textbook models, helping prepare them for clinical practice. Unlike idealized anatomy models, real patient scans expose students to natural anatomical variation and realistic structures they may encounter in healthcare careers. The dataset library also continues to grow as new scans become available.
Each dataset is packaged as a BodyViz File. It includes findings, impressions, dimensions, and other relevant information from the original scan and radiologist report while remaining completely anonymized. Most of these virtual scans are used in learning modules within the BodyViz Portal, which guide users step by step through the dissection. This allows students to follow the module steps to learn and test their knowledge by actively dissecting real anatomical structures and reinforcing their understanding through integrated learning activities. The BodyViz Portal brings guided virtual dissection, interactive learning activities, assessments, and instructor resources into one easy-to-use learning environment.
